cheese tasting- Celebrate
the emergence of the Henty Wine Region as an outstanding producer
of exceptional cool-climate wine.
Meet local
wine producers and sample the award winning chardonnays, rieslings,
pinot noirs and dessert wines while discussing the complexities of
the regional
varieties. 
Freely
available in the wine marquee is the chance to taste well matured
cheeses, the perfect accompaniment when having a glass of
wine.
Wood
Chop- The wood
chop and tree felling attracts many competitors from all over
Australia, including state and Australian
champions. Every year at least one Victorian title
is contested at the Wood, Wine & Roses Festival.
This event is rated as one of the best country Victorian wood
chops. This year more than 30 competitions will sharpen thier axes
for the event, vying for the John Wills Memorial
Trophy.
Car Rally-
The
festival car rally races into gear on the Friday night, February
26, before the festival. A field of more than 25 vehicles will take
to the Annya State Forest to compete in the first round of the SA
series, vying for the Graham and Kathleen Millard perpetual trophy.
Cars will be on display in the festival grounds on Saturday for
spectators after the race is
complete.
Lawn Mower
Racing- (first
introduced in 1999). See the dirt fly as Heywood hosts the
first round of the point system championship races on a
purpose built course which offers plenty of challenges for the
drivers. Reaching speeds of up to 80kmph on the 300 metre long
track, it is an electrifying race to watch. This year more than 30
competitors will travel from across the state to compete in 30
different events.
Carnival
Rides & Shows - What
festival would be complete without
the prospect of a variety of carnival rides and side
shows?
The
festival offers rides and entertainment that caters for all ages.
Check out the side show acts, from circus acts to street performers
- there is something for all ages.
Parents with babies and toddlers will find
a Feed and Change Room in the Old School Building, where mum can
sit and feed her baby in comfort and privacy. Bottles can be heated
up. A change table is also provided, with hand washing facilities
in the room. Toys are there to keep toddlers busy. Australian
Breastfeeding Association (ABA) Portland Group members are in
attendance to welcome everyone, help mum with toddlers and keep
change facilities clean. This is a free service provided by the ABA
Portland Group and the Wood Wne and Roses
Festival.
